Frequently asked questions

THE OPTIONS & QUALITY

What type of framing do you offer?
We offer 100% wood framed made in the US. Our mats are all acid-free, have a white-core & 4-ply, a.k.a. completely archival and very thick. Upon receiving your print, our frame designers will choose the shade of white and mat dimensions to best enhance your piece, with a minimum of 2” matting around your image. We then bevel-cut each corner with precision. We only offer shades of white which means we offer a wide variety of mat colors, ranging from bright white to the creamiest cream. Because choosing these non-colors is super hard online, we provide this service for you.

What type of glass do you use?
We use UV-filtering plexiglass for all frames, except Canvas which does not require any glass. Why? Because that is the best option and has become the industry standard. Chances are you will be moving and plexiglass is lighter, scratch-resistant & shatter-resistant. It also provides more UV protection and less-glare than glass. While a bit more expensive than glass, the quality and protection plexiglass offers is so good, most art sellers and galleries are using it and so should you.

What are the dimensions of the frames?
Canvas floater with 3/4 inch face and 1 1/2 inch depth.

What sizes do you offer?
In canvas, we offer six sizes: 11 x 14", 16 x 20", 24 x 30", 30 x 40", 36 x 48", and 40 x 60".
In paper, we offer four sizes: 11 x 14", 16 x 20", 24 x 30", and 30 x 40".

THE PROCESS

How does it work?
Follow our easy step by step instructions on how to go about commissioning a painting on paper or canvas. After you receive our automated email confirmation, within 1-2 business days, we will contact you for more information on how to proceed based on your deets submission.

How long will it take?
It depends on the size, obviously a smaller piece will take less time and a larger one more. Typically 2-4 weeks unframed and 4-6 weeks framed.

Will I see progress photos?
Yes, clients will be shown one photo towards the end of the process. At this time, the client is allowed one minor change.

What if I don't like it?
Carol will do her absolute best to create the painting you envisioned! Some people will get cold feet, at first... The image you had in mind could be somewhat different, but an artist's process is a creative one and it may be different, but better! Usually, in these rare circumstances the client will take it home and end up loving it more.

What if I still don't like it?
Unfortunately, the 50% deposit is non-refundable and you can elect to forfeit the deposit.

Why is the deposit non-refundable?
The artist is creating an original piece of art that takes time and creative energy.

What if the painting or framing is damaged?
If you receive the item(s) damaged, email us immediately: carol@carolhu.com and we will do our best to solve the problem.
